Search with Google more effectively than you think! When it comes to the success of your essay or assignment, using Google properly can be vital. Surprisingly, most students simply don’t know how to do this. 2. Other Google tricks:

Search for definitions: define: followed by the word you are looking for.
Calculator: just type the equation into the search engine.
Conversions: type in the amount and the metrics. In between the two measures, you must include the word “in”, which in English is a suffix in -. For example: 12 kilometers in meters.

3. Keyboard commands:

Ctrl + F: Use it to search for words in documents and on websites. It highlights all the results.
Ctrl + +/-: Zoom in/out: you can easily resize a page or PDF with these combinations.
Ctrl + L: You can easily select the link of a web page with this method.
Ctrl + Tab: You can easily switch between the opened web pages.
Alt + Tab: Press both keys at the same time to switch between applications.

4. Other tips for research:

Use your school library’s website. Most university and college library websites have a number of useful links. Here you can find databases that you wouldn’t be able to access for free elsewhere.
